Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information — JoinMyJam

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and similar laws elsewhere, you may opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for personalized advertising. This page explains what that means on JoinMyJam and the three ways to exercise it.

1. What we do and do not do

We do not sell, rent, or disclose personal information to third parties, except in the cases set out in our Privacy Policy: with your explicit consent, where the law requires it, to service providers acting on our behalf, and — in the context of promotions or advertising — to partners and advertisers, subject to your consent.

Under the CCPA's broad definitions, letting an advertising partner set a cookie in order to personalize the ads you see can itself count as "sharing", even where no money changes hands. That is why this opt-out exists and why it is worth using if you would rather it did not happen.

2. Three ways to opt out

  1. In your account — Account Settings → Privacy & Data → turn on *"Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information"*.
  2. From any page — the *"Do Not Sell My Personal Information"* link in the site footer.
  3. Without an account — decline non-essential cookies in the consent banner shown on your first visit. You can change that choice at any time.

3. What changes when you opt out

Advertising does not disappear, but it stops being personalized: only non-personalized ads are requested, chosen by the page you are on rather than by any profile of you. Analytics that depend on non-essential cookies stop loading as well.
